Santa's sleigh visits Basildon and Wickford with the help of the Lions Club

THE CHRISTMAS SLEIGH Lions and their helpers tirelessly work in the run up to Christmas with Santa’s sleigh with both static and door-to-door collections, and this activity generates our biggest source of funds.

Lion President hands over a cheque for £1,000

EASTER RAFFLES - we conduct a series of Easter raffles in local public houses. The picture shows the presentation of a cheque for £1,000 to Hamelin Trust from the 2009 collection, in which we were supported by these local pubs and bars: The Three Compasses, The Downham Arms, The Duke, The Quart Pot, The Shepherd & Dog, The Wickford Railway Club, Plazma Lounge & Bar, and The Dick Turpin.

Kirstin Terris from Hamelin Trust commented “Hamelin Trust is working hard to continue to provide it’s much needed services and the money raised by the Basildon & Wickford Lions Club will go towards purchasing two new beds for the children’s respite service at Hamelin House. We are delighted to have the support of local groups and organisations and a big thank you to everyone involved in the Easter Raffle organised by the Basildon & Wickford Lions Club.”

ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF DAY - every year, jointly with the Lions Club of Thurrock, we organise a Charity Golf day. The event in 2009 raised over £700 for charity.
