  • This website is hosted by UKHost4u (www.ukhost4u.com)  We are using their "Budget Hosting" package - cost £19.99 + VAT per year, including free domain name

  • ALL the software used to build and maintain this website is 'Open Source':
    • Web pages (HTML format) are built and maintained using KompoZer (http://kompozer.net/).  We are currently using version 0.7.
    • Photographs are re-scaled to our website standards using GIMP2 (http://www.gimp.org/)
    • Non-HTML files (eg, linked PDF documents) are posted to the website using Core FTP Lite (http://download.cnet.com/Core-FTP-LE/3000-2160_4-10195752.html?tag=mncol and elsewhere)
    • As necessary, documents to embed are converted to PDF format using CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/Writer.asp)
    • Embedded directional maps appear by permission of MultiMap (www.multimap.com)
  • We chose this combination for these reasons:
    • Very low cost
    • Relatively easy to use
    • Good flexibility / freedom to chop and change
    • Enables responsibility for website maintenance to be shared by several club members
